RIP My Blogging Site... Onto a New One!!!

 For the last five years, I've been grinding away at this blog site. I've been thinking about shutting this particular site down and re-establishing another blog site elsewhere. 

    Good ol' Wagner's Writing... I mainly got on here to get my thoughts out there, and it's genuinely relaxing. But fuck man, this site pisses me off. I hit up Blogger initially after a friend of mine would use it. It was simple, so I ran with it. It seemed fun, and it was. For a while. Then I tried to monetize my blog and for two or so years I'd get nowhere because I was posting "low-value content." What did that mean? I sure didn't know. Still don't.

    Google is very oblique in trying to help me out and never got specific with it. So there were at least ten - fifteen different times I'd try to monetize my site to nothing. Not that I need the money, but if I'm bringing in traffic to Blogger's sites then I ought to be paid for it and paid for my time. Speaking of, I recently hit over 12,000 views over the site's lifetime!!! And not a cent to show for it. So I'll be going elsewhere that will, or at least be transparent about what it is I'm doing wrong. 

    I'll still leave this site up. Y'know, for the nostalgia. And in case any journalism gigs what to see what I've got... well, here it is... Yeah, a lot of movie reviews isn't it??? 

    If I fail elsewhere, then I'll just come back here. I have a win/win situation really. I'll post about the new site as soon as it's done. Be sure to stay tuned! 12,000 views!!!

 It was last week that Mastodon announced that their former-guitarist and co-founding member, Brent Hinds passed away suddenly in a motorcycle accident. He was 51. A friend of mine told me just very matter of fact, “Dude, Brent Hinds died.” I get this funny reaction when people die and it remained the same with Brent. I go, “Well, where is he? When’s he getting better?” Then the reality hits.  It’s strange. Mastodon played a huge part in my younger years and was one of the first progressive metal bands I got into. I was turned on to bands like Rush, Dream Theater, and Tool; bands that played these longer songs and really gave experiences in different ways to enjoy music and celebrate musicianship. My Love and Fear of Filmmaking

  I love film. I love watching films. I love talking about films. Films have helped me guide my way through life, to inspire me, and at the end of the day, entertain and lift me up. To me theaters are my churches which I sit down in front of a screen, popcorn in hand, and await the sermon in the form of storytelling to get the message from example of the characters of the movie. I’m always on the lookout for the newest releases. I research every crevice of a film from how it was written, how the director approached the story, and general behind the scenes notes. I love film! It’s no secret if you know me that I’d also LOVE to make a film. I’ve written a few short scripts that’ve just sat around gathering dust. Mom

My Mama died, and I’m terribly fucking sad about it. (You have to write the truth) Think I’m writing a series of these blog posts as a meditation on loss, grief, and returning back to passion and life. It’s one of the few things on my mind.  This is the first one. You write what you know, right? It’s a terrible thing to lose a parent. It feels fucking awful. It’s also apparent that “normal people” aren’t sure how to approach how to go about talking to someone who’s experienced that kind of loss. Especially if you’re still a young(er) person. These are the lines I must walk now.  Eight days ago, I lost my mom due to brain cancer. This was after being diagnosed with lung cancer in September and fought hard with it for nearly nine months before the cancer spread to her brain and passing away in the night on May 16th. It was 11:33 PM when she took her final breath. She was 65. Far too young to be losing any parent. Any age will seem too young because everyone wants their parent ...
